Antarctica is believed to be the last pristine land on Earth, but its unique yet fragile ecosystem is being threatened by global climate change and expanding human activities including tourism development and resource exploitation.Meanwhile, the challenges facing Antarctica have led to renewed international conservation efforts.Antarctic governance boils down to human self-discipline.This article analyzes the current state and impacts of Antarctic tourism and resource development and explores international and Chinese policies and practices in Antarctic protection,to provide scientific evidence for policymakers and for the sustainable future of Antarctica.
