摘要
近义词的辨析是英语学习的重点,传统方法依赖词典查询,难以掌握微妙差异。COCA语料库为近义词辨析提供了新途径。研究基于COCA,从词频、语域分布、搭配和语义韵三方面分析renovate和repair。结果显示,repair词频较高,使用范围更广,常见于杂志和小说;renovate词频较低,多见于新闻等正式文体。搭配方面,repair多与名词搭配,renovate则与名词、形容词及数词搭配,且多与建筑物相关。语义韵方面,二者均呈中性特征。
The differentiation of synonyms is crucial in English learning.Traditional methods relying on dictionaries are insufficient for grasping subtle differences.The COCA corpus offers a new approach.This study analyzes“renovate and repair”from three aspects:word frequency,register distribution,and collocation.Results show that“repair”has higher frequency and wider usage,especially in magazines and fiction,while“renovate”is more common in news.In collocation,“repair”pairs with nouns,while“renovate”collocates with nouns,adjectives,and numerals,often related to buildings.Both words exhibit neutral semantic prosody.
