摘要
企业与创新生态系统中不同主体互动对其颠覆性创新具有重要影响。基于创新生态系统主体间的资源和能力关联,构建主体互动与企业颠覆性创新关系模型,采用问卷调查数据进行创新生态系统主体互动对企业颠覆性创新的影响效应分析。结果表明:①四类主体互动模式(竞争型、支持型、依赖型和辅助型互动)均对企业颠覆性创新产生正向影响;②机会识别、资源重构在主体互动与企业颠覆性创新关系中均发挥部分中介作用;③生态规范机制正向调节竞争型互动、依赖型互动与企业颠覆性创新间关系。
In the context of technological revolution and industrial transformation,disruptive innovation has emerged as a critical engine for economic growth.As disruptive innovation is inherently a social process involving multiple interaction of agents,more and more enterprises emphasize building or embedding themselves into innovation ecosystems to implement disruptive innovation strategy effectively.To facilitate the value creation and appropriation in the disruptive innovation journey,enterprises must establish multiple interactions with heterogeneous agents in an innovation ecosystem to obtain relevant resources and capabilities.Undoubtedly,the interaction between the focal firm and other ecological agents within an innovation ecosystem will exert a certain degree of influence on enterprises'disruptive innovation performance.Drawing upon the theoretical framework of innovation ecosystem,several scholars have explored the impact of ecological agent interaction within an innovation ecosystem on enterprises'disruptive innovation.However,several questions remain to be further studied as follows.Firstly,as for the causes of disruptive innovation,scholars are more interested in internal factors of the enterprise,including technology strategy,organisation structure and culture,and management processes,while ignoring the role of external factors.Secondly,existing research regarding the internal mechanisms between innovation ecosystems and disruptive innovation has mainly taken the agent interaction as an integrated variable.However,it is argued that the interaction between the focal firm and its stakeholders within an innovation ecosystem should be analyzed from the perspective of heterogeneity.This is because value co-creation in innovation ecosystems involves multiple agents with different functions and goals,such as the focal firms,complementary agents,resource providers,environment shapers,and even competitors.Consequently,the focal firm carrying out disruptive innovation is compelled to construct appropriate interaction models in accordance with different types of agents.Thirdly,two mediating mechanisms have been identified through which ecological agent interaction affects enterprises'disruptive innovation.On the one hand,as disruptive innovation is characterized by stochasticity and non-conformity,firms should pre-emptively identify initially unappreciated innovation opportunities.On the other hand,because the traditional resource allocation approach has been shown to limit the emergence of disruptive innovation,firms should reconstruct their resource systems to facilitate the idea creation,product development,and commercialization of disruptive technologies.Therefore,this study aims to explore the mediating mechanism of opportunity recognition and resource reconfiguration in the influence of agent interaction on disruptive innovation.Based on previous studies,this study divides ecological agent interaction into four dimensions:competitive interaction,supportive interaction,dependent interaction and auxiliary interaction,and then examines how the four types of ecological agent interaction affect disruptive innovation of enterprises through opportunity recognition and resource reconfiguration.Additionally,the moderating effect of ecological regulation mechanism on the relationship between agent interaction and disruptive innovation is investigated.To provide answers to the above research questions,the study employs a questionnaire survey method with a sample of 345 Chinese firms to test the proposed hypotheses.This study yields several interesting empirical results.Firstly,the results show that each dimension of agent interaction has a certain degree of positive influence on enterprises'disruptive innovation.Among them,dependent interaction has the most significant impact on disruptive innovation,while the effect of supportive interaction is the smallest.Secondly,this study confirms that both opportunity recognition and resource reconfiguration have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between each type of agent interaction and disruptive innovation.Thirdly,the results demonstrate that ecological regulation mechanism positively moderates the relationship between competitive interaction,dependent interaction and disruptive innovation respectively.On the whole,as for the theoretical contributions,this study aims to further the understanding of how agent interaction within an ecosystem affects an enterprise's disruptive innovation,expand the boundary conditions of the relationship between agent interaction and disruptive innovation,and enrich the theoretical literature in the field of driving factors of disruptive innovation.As for the managerial implications,this study provides guidance for enterprises to conduct disruptive innovation.Enterprises with a strategic orientation toward disruptive innovation should focus on building close ties with different ecological agents when embedding or constructing an innovation ecosystem,in order to acquire innovationrelated resources and capabilities from heterogeneous sources.Moreover,enterprises should properly develop various ecological agent interactions to effectively identify and leverage potential innovation opportunities,reconstruct and optimize innovation resources,in order to facilitate the process of disruptive innovation.
