With the advancement of China’s industrialization process, the demand for molybdenum resources is increasing, and the large-scale mining of molybdenum ore leads to the increasing amount of molybdenum tailings. The large amount of molybdenum tailings not only occupies valuable land resources, but also may cause soil heavy metal pollution.Molybdenum tailings contain a variety of valuable components and have potential for resource utilization. This paper summarizes the current situation of molybdenum resources in China, analyzes the characteristics of molybdenum tailings components, and summarizes the recovery of valuable components in molybdenum tailings and its application in building materials, filling and agriculture. In the future, the comprehensive utilization of molybdenum tailings should focus on breaking through the problems of multi-stage flotation process optimization and reagent consumption reduction,so as to improve the recovery rate of valuable components. At the same time,by optimizing the tailings ratio and heavy metal passivation technology, its application range is expanded.
