摘要
在时代呼唤爱国情怀的背景之下,英美文学课程承载着厚植学生家国情怀、传播中华文化、提高学生跨文化交际能力的新使命。课题组主讲教师选取美国文学经典的若干片段,重点剖析其中的爱国情怀,让爱国主义精神在学生心中牢牢扎根。美国殖民时期《普利茅斯种植园史》中的北美新大陆无疑是伊甸园,字里行间流露出殖民者的欣喜与赞美之情。革命时期《致野金银花》中的清丽山野折射出诗人对美国清丽山野的喜爱与自豪之情。浪漫主义时期《睡谷传说》中的世外桃源展现了壮丽多姿的美国大陆,也体现了作家的时代焦虑;《瓦尔登湖》中两幅霍乐威尔庄园图景对比,凸显了梭罗的生态关怀与社会责任。现实主义时期《汤姆叔叔的小屋》中的肯塔基画卷体现了作者的人文关怀,激活了读者心中的公平正义。二十世纪《雪夜林畔小驻》中的新英格兰雪景蕴藏着诗人弗罗斯特对社会、家庭以及自己的责任与承诺;《愤怒的葡萄》中的加利福尼亚的福地反衬了约德一家的悲惨命运。
In the context of the times calling for patriotic sentiment,the course of English and American literature bears a new mission of cultivating students’sentiment of sentiment of home and country,spreading Chinese culture,and improving their cross-cultural communication skills.The lead teacher of the research group selected some excerpts from classic American literature,focusing on analyzing the patriotic sentiment therein,so as to firmly plant the spirit of patriotism in the hearts of students.The North American New World in the work Of Plymouth Plantation during the American colonial period was undoubtedly the Garden of Eden,with the colonizers’delight and praise expressed in every word and line.The picturesque countryside in“The Wild Honey Suckle”during the Revolutionary Period reflected Freneau s love and pride for the beautiful countryside in America.The idyllic world in“The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”during the Romantic Period showcased the magnificent and varied American continent,reflecting Irving s era anxiety;the two pictures of the Hollowell farm in Walden contrasted,highlighting Thoreau s ecological concern and social responsibility.The painting of Kentucky in Uncle Tom s Cabin during the Realism Period embodied Mrs.Stowe s humanistic concern,igniting the readers’sense of fairness and justice.The New England snow scene in“Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening”in the 20th century contained Frost s responsibility and commitment to the society,family and himself;the idyllic land of California in The Grapes of Wrath contrasted with the tragic fate of the Joads’.
