摘要
爱情博弈自从在古希腊新喜剧中出现以来,一直是文学作品,尤其是浪漫爱情故事中不可或缺的部分。但学界对这一主题的认识模糊不清,以为其形式和内涵长久未变。殊不知,随着古希腊文明、罗马文明,尤其是兴起于欧陆的文艺复兴运动与英国本土文明的交流融合,爱情博弈无论在形式上还是在思想内涵上都随之呈现出英国特色。伊丽莎白时代的莎士比亚把爱情博弈的双方由新喜剧中的男主和父辈人物转移到青年男女,复辟时期的康格里夫则把博弈焦点从外在金钱转移到内在情感。形式和内涵的变化是英国近现代特定的历史语境、文化传统和社会现实对喜剧主题的重要发展,尤其与英国早期现代社会对爱情和婚姻的认知变化互为表里。17世纪末逐渐兴起的情感个人主义使英国人的婚恋观摆脱了传统影响,发生了具有现代意蕴的转型。
Since it emerged in Greek New Comedy,the game of love has long been an indispensable part of literature,especially romantic stories.However,scholars do not pay enough attention to it,considering its form and content unchanged from ancient times to now.Contrary to this assumption,the form and the content of the game of love have been anglicized because of the cross-fertilization among civilizations,such as Greek and Roman,especially the continental Renaissance movement with Britain’s comic tradition.Shakespeare in the Elizabethan Age transferred parties of the game of love from heroes and father figures in New Comedy to young protagonistsin love while Congreve in the Restoration period transferred the focus of it from money to emotion.Shifts in form and content reveal substantial contributions of historical context,cultural tradition,and social reality,resonated simultaneously with changes in the British’s view of love and marriage.The appearance of affective individualism in the late 17th century enables the British to transform from a traditional view oflove and marriage to a modern one.
