《庄子·养生主》“缘督以为经”义辨——兼论老庄自然养生功夫

摘要 庄子在《养生主》篇首提出“为善无近名,为恶无近刑”与“缘督以为经”,其义颇为难解。综合诸家对“善”“恶”的义析,从养生方式的适宜与失宜两个方面诠释“善”“恶”最为恰当。“缘督以为经”的释义,重在“督”字的解读上:“督”有“中虚”义,“缘督以为经”应作“中虚之道”解,即庄子所谓“依乎天理”与“因其固然”,本质上是道家养生遵循的自然法则与规律。庄子“缘督以为经”的义旨在于自然养生,这一养生原则是继承老子养生学说而来的。具体而言,庄子“静则无为”的养生功夫是对老子“致虚”“守静”养生功夫的继承与发展。 Zhuangzi argues that for good,there is no near name,for evil,there is no near punishment and“life maintenance through regulating the human body's governor vessel”in the first chapter of Health Master,the meaning of which is rather difficult to decipher.Based on the analysis of the meanings of good and evil,it is most appropriate to interpret good and evil from the proper and improper ways of keeping good health.“life maintenance through regulating the human body's governor vessel”is the fundamental principle of Zhuangzi's theory of keeping good health and its importance of understanding in a word about du(“督”).Du has a meaning about zhong xu(中虚,the central void),that's what Zhuangzi called following nature.The meaning of Zhuangzi's“life maintenance through regulating the human body's governor vessel”is to keep in good health naturally;it lies in natural health preservation,which is inherited from Laozi's doctrine of health preservation.Specifically,Zhuangzi's health maintenance practice of quietness leading to inaction is an inheritance and development of Laozi's health preservation practices.
