摘要
长期以来,学界对雅斯贝斯的轴心时期文明理论的理解多有偏差。轴心时期文明地域范围的中国、印度和西方,不是对应中国、印度和希腊,“西方”的范围包括整个欧洲和中东、近东地区。与之对应的是,轴心时期文明不能简单概括为中国文明、印度文明和希腊文明,而是雅斯贝斯反复强调的中国文明、印度文明和西方的犹太文明、伊朗文明、希腊文明五种。在雅斯贝斯看来,轴心时期文明的本质是人类开始进入精神觉醒的状态,至今人类并没有突破轴心时期文明的本质。“新轴心时期”(或“第二个轴心时期”)理论与雅斯贝斯轴心时期文明理论的本质有明显的差别。
For a long time,there have been many misinterpretations in the academic circles regarding Karl Jaspers’theory of Axial-period civilization.The geographical scope of civilization in the Axis period,including China,India,and the West,does not correspond to China,India,and Greece.The scope of the West includes Europe,the Middle East,and the Near East.Correspondingly,the civilizations of the Axis period cannot be simply summarized as Chinese civilization,Indian civilization,and Greek civilization,Instead,what Jaspers repeated emphsasized are the five types,including Chinese civilization in China,Indian civilization in India,Jewish civilization,Iranian civilization,and Greek civilization in the West.In Jaspers’view,the essence of Axial-period civilizations lies in humanity’s entry into a stage of spiritual awakening;to this day,humanity has not transcended the essential nature of the Axial Era.Moreover,the later theories of a“New Axial Era”or a“Second Axial Era”differ significantly from Jaspers’theory of the Axial-period civilization.
