As a field with large and high carbon emissions, the green carbon reduction of the construction industry is the current focus and an urgent problem to be solved. As a large public building, substation building is a key link in the process of receiving and distributing electric energy in the process of power transmission, and is also an important source of carbon emissions from power transmission,so the calculation of carbon emissions from substation buildings and emission reduction measures are of vital importance. However,at present, the calculation methods and emission reduction measures of carbon emissions from substation buildings are still relatively scattered and lack of systematic comparison. In order to provide reference for the research related to carbon emission reduction of substations, the composition of substation buildings and their carbon emission characteristics are introduced, and the research progress of carbon emission calculation of substation buildings based on the life cycle approach is summarized;and the carbon emission reduction measures of substations are further analyzed in terms of the construction of substation buildings, operation and management, and the use of renewable energy sources, with the aim of providing a technical reference for the energy saving and carbon reduction in the field of substation buildings.
