Objective To evaluate the quality of RCTs published in Modern Chinese Medicine in the past five years and provide references for improving the quality of RCTs in the journal in the future. Methods A quantitative evaluation form was established based on the 30 items and 42 sub-items of the CONSORT 2025 statement.Data were extracted and recorded from RCTs published in Modern Chinese Medicine from January 2020 to July 2025.The number of papers meeting each item and the percentage were calculated. Results A total of 309 clinical research articles were published in Modern Chinese Medicine in the past five years, including 265 RCTs.There were 16 items with a reporting rateof 100%,2 items with a reporting rate>50%,9 items with a reporting rate<50%,and 15 items with a reporting rate of 0%.Conclusion The quality of RCTs published in Modern Chinese Medicine in the past five years was generally low, especially in the aspects of title, sample size estimation, random sequence generation, allocation concealment, blinding, statistical methods, and clinical trial registration. It is suggested that the CONSORT statement and clinical trial registration system be introduced into the author guidelines to guide authors to follow the requirements of the checklist when writing RCT reports, thereby improving the academic quality and influence of the journal.
