9-13 May 2011,Madrid,Spain The Iberian Peninsula is well known for its extensive outcrops of early Palaeozoic rocks and its high palaeo-latitudinal position during the Ordovician on the southern polar margin of Gondwana,had profound affects on the faunas and facies of the time.It was therefore timely that more than 120 participants from 26 countries took part in the programme consisting of three days of lectures,a mid-symposium and pre-and postsymposium field trips,described herein.
