Tumor-related depression,a common complication in cancer patients, significantly impacts treatment efficacy and prognosis, yet its pathogenesis remains incompletely understood. In recent years, the mitochondrial energy metabolism dysfunction hypothesis has gained attention.Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)posits that impaired spleen function is a key pathological mechanism of tumor-related depression, and the characteristics of the TCM“spleen”share similarities with mitochondrial functions. This article explored the mechanism of treating tumor-related depression from the perspective of spleen regulation, focusing on mitochondrial energy metabolism dysfunction in tumor cells. The research indicates that TCM therapies such as tonifying Qi and strengthening spleen, soothing liver and harmonizing spleen, resolving phlegm and awakening spleen, and nourishing blood and fortifying spleen can effectively alleviate depressive symptoms in cancer patients and improve mitochondrial function. The findings aim to provide novel therapeutic strategies for clinical management of tumor-related depression.
