摘要
清初官修类书《佩文韵府》收录汉字一万零两百余个,词语六十多万个,专供文人创作诗文辞赋时征选辞藻典故、讲求押韵对句之用。来华西人加略利(1810—1862)曾计划以《佩文韵府》为底本编纂一部大型百科全书式汉法词典——《汉文总书》,向西方展现中国传统语言文化“全景图”。词典样册、正本第一卷分别于1842年、1845年出版。后续编纂计划因故终止,不过现存刊印内容已足以体现其编纂技艺与匠心。本文从辞书编纂角度出发,对《汉文总书》和《佩文韵府》进行体例与文本的对比分析,还原加略利“文明互鉴”的路径,揭示西人编纂汉法词典实现对中国类书的传承与发展、以双语词典为媒介促成两种文明借鉴与融合的实践。
Peiwen Yunfu,a leishu(classified book),compiled officially in the early Qing Dynasty,contains more than 10,200 Chinese characters and more than 600,000 Chinese words.It was specially compiled for literati to select poetic diction,literary allusions,and rhyme phrases when writing poetry and essays.Joseph Marie Callery(1810—1862),an Italian-French missionary,planned to compile a large encyclopedic Chinese-French dictionary Hanwen Zongshu based on Peiwen Yunfu to present the“panorama”of the traditional Chinese language and culture to the West.A sample volume and the first volume of the dictionary were published in 1842 and 1845 respectively.The subsequent compilation plan was not realized,but the existing published content is enough for a review of his compilation skills and ingenuity.This article conducts a comparative analysis of the structure and content of Hanwen Zongshu and Peiwen Yunfu from the perspective of lexicography,aiming to restore Callery’s practical path of“mutual learning among civilizations”,and to review how a Chinese-French dictionary compiled by a Western scholar continued and developed the Chinese leishu tradition,and how bilingual lexicography served as a medium for mutual learning and integration between Chinese and Western civilizations.
