Liu Liangcheng’s literary imagination is grounded in distinctive personal experiences and emotional model.Through folk mythology, regional history, geographical culture and the evolution of modern society,he finds the change and invariability in human nature, and explores the relationship between humans and nature, society, culture and civilization. Therefore, his works exhibit both deep self-specificity and transcendent universality.Writing fiction from a retrospective viewpoint with a nonfictional prose style,Liu focuses on human dwellings and activities, such as villages, caves, games,as vehicles to examine regional narratives through the lens of personal experience characterized by marginality, seclusion, and the interconnectedness of humans and objects. His approach involves“returning to the things themselves”rather than merely achieving them, manifesting his persistent study of local landscapes as a means to“question heaven”and seek the fundamental principles of existence, which is a pursuit resonating with Lacan’s concept of the“Real”.He personally visits cultural landscapes to reconstruct the behaviors, emotions, and thoughts embedded within them, and reinterprets epics to revive their divine imagery.Ultimately,Liu’s works embody profound meditations on human destiny, existence, and the relationship between individuals and society.
