From the pre Qin period to the Qing Dynasty, the continuous and effective governance in border areas of the Central Plains dynasties played an important role in the building of China's national image. In ancient China, diverse and tailored spatial governance measures were adopted for border areas, which have presented an open and inclusive image;border areas were also important regions for large-scale migration in ancient times, with various forms of migration waves forming in different periods and regions, such as garrison migration,two-way convection migration, nomadic migration southward, and agricultural migration northward. The Central Plains dynasties took different measures to promote the integrated governance of agriculture and animal husbandry, promoting the formation of a diverse and integrated national situation;border areas are places where diverse cultures converge.Throughout history,Central Plains dynasties have adopted measures such as"writing with the same script"and promoting Confucianism to promote cultural identity among multi-ethnic groups in border areas towards the Central Plains dynasties and the formation of a"unified"country. As a result, ancient China enriched and improved its national image through strategies such as spatial governance, immigration governance, and cultural governance in special border areas, shaping an open, inclusive, diverse, and innovative"unified"national image of ancient China, making border areas a key area for the formation and external dissemination of China's national image.
