This paper introduces Professor Wang Baohe's experience in treating palpitations after COVID-19 infection by using modified Shengmai Powder.Professor Wang believes that the occurrence of palpitations after COVID-19 infection is mainly caused by the damp-heat epidemic toxin that damages the heart, lung,qi,and yin.At the early stage of epidemic toxin invasion, the struggling between healthy qi and pathogenic qi can consume healthy qi.The deficiency of healthy qi harms the primordial qi of the triple energizer, resulting in the deficiency of nutrient qi,defense qi,and pectoral qi.Therefore, patients who are in the recovery period after COVID-19 infection generallyhave qi deficiency symptoms such as chest tightness, shortness of breath, and fatigue.Because the pathogenic qi of coVID-19 features dampness and heat, the struggling between healthy qi and pathogenic qi produces turbid pathogens such as dampness, phlegm, stasis, and toxin. The mixture of damp-heat epidemic toxin with turbid pathogens invades the heart and lung, depleting the qi and yin of the heart and lung, resulting in yin and blood depletion.Professor Wang modified Shengmai Powder with turbidity-resolving and qi movement-regulating medicines and settling tranquilizers, achieving satisfactory clinical effects. This paper illustrates Professor Wang's experience with report of onecase.
