摘要
1928年,史沫特莱在中国革命的感召下来到中国,从此开启了她与红色中国的深厚联结。史沫特莱通过撰写新闻报道、著书立说等形式译写红色中国,积极宣传中国苏维埃革命与抗日战争的正义事业。本文以无本译写研究为切入点,基于社会认同理论深入剖析了史沫特莱的身份认同与其红色无本译写行为间的互构关系。研究发现,史沫特莱在左翼民粹主义者、世界公民、女性主义者为主的多元社会群体中的身份定位,不仅决定了她以红色译写支援中国苏维埃革命和抗战的必然性,同时也决定了她必然会着重笔墨于中国工农红军、八路军、底层群众及妇女群体。其百纳被式的译写策略,巧妙地融入了她的左翼政治理念与女性主义关怀。此外,史沫特莱作为新闻从业者的职业身份,与当时美国文艺界左翼运动的写作导向相结合,使得她的译写始终秉持着朴素、简洁且客观的语言风格。文章旨在从无本译写研究视角重新审视史沫特莱的红色中国书写,以期推动史沫特莱研究和无本译写研究的发展。
In 1928,Agnes Smedley was profoundly inspired by the Chinese revolutionary movement,thereby initiating her deep connection with red China.Through news reporting,book writing,and other narrative forms,Smedley actively translated and publicized the righteous cause of the Chinese Soviet Revolution and The Chinese War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.This article approaches her transwriting practice through the lens of multisource transwriting research,employing social identity theory to critically analyze the interactive relationship between Smedley’s identity positioning and her transwriting practices of red China.The research reveals that Smedley’s identity positioning within multiple social groups-primarily left-wing populists,world citizens,and feminists-not only determined the inevitability of her supporting the Chinese Soviet Revolution and The War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression through her transwriting practices of red China,but also decisively influenced her focused narrative on the Chinese Red Army of Workers and Peasants,the Eighth Route Army,grassroots populations,and women’s groups.Her crazy-quilt transwriting strategy ingeniously incorporated her left-wing political ideology and feminist concerns.Furthermore,Smedley’s professional identity as a journalist,combined with the writing orientation of the American left-wing literary movement of that time,endowed her translations with a consistently plain,concise,and objective linguistic style.By reimagining Smedley’s transwritings of red China from a multisource transwriting research perspective,this article aims to advance scholarly research on Smedley and multisource translation studies.
