摘要
本文结合作者自身的学术经历,通过回顾芝加哥学派的历史,揭示了芝加哥学派在时空情境、方法论传统和理论创新等方面的持续影响。一代代芝加哥学派的学者正是在回溯芝加哥学派历史的过程中塑造其未来,本文也同样有此期许。置身社会变迁频繁的当下,作者呼吁构建全新的社会理论,并就社会心理、社会组织、社会生态学三个方面给出对未来芝加哥学派的期待:在社会心理领域,需要关注人格、社会互动理想形态及关于人的意识形态的变革;在社会组织领域,新的挑战在于群体分析的困难性、人口结构改变、消费和工作中年龄模式的动态变化以及由上述变化引出的更广泛问题;在社会生态学领域,需要重新理解“靠近”在社会世界中的含义。最后,作者主张回归芝加哥学派的实证传统,避免学术研究的机械化与过度政治化,倡导扎根资料数据的理论创新。本文既是对芝加哥学派历史的反思,也是对未来研究的纲领性展望。
Interweaving the historical trajectory of the Chicago School with his personal scholarly development,the author illustrates the lasting impacts of the Chicago School with its emphasis on spatial and temporal contexts,methodological traditions and theoretical innovations.Indeed,in revisiting the history of the Chicago School of Sociology,generations of scholars look up to its future,an ambition that this article shares as well.Given today's rapid social transformation,the author calls for a new theory that yields promises for the future Chicago School in three areas:social psychology that pays attention to transformations in personality,ideals of interaction and ideologies of the person;social organization that meets the challenge of the nature of groups,the variations of demography and the dynamic changes in age patterns;and social ecology that emphasizes the reinterpretation of“nearness”.Also,the author warns the danger of mechanization and excessive politicization of research,and looks forward to theoretically innovative approaches based on rigorous data.
