Objective:To investigate the value of low-dose CT scanning in patients with pulmonary infections. Methods:A total of 118 patients treated for pulmonary infections at The Third Affiliated Hospital of Jinzhou Medical University from August 2023 to August 2024 were enrolled as subjects. They were divided into a control group(conventional-dose CT scanning)and an observation group(low-dose CT scanning)based on the order of examination, with 59 cases in each group. The image quality and radiation dose were compared between the two groups. Results:The signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)and contrast-to-noise ratio(CNR)of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).No significant differences were observed in background noise scores or overall image quality scores between the two groups(P>0.05).The volume CT dose index(CTDIvol),dose-length product(DLP),and effective dose(ED)in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Compared with conventional-dose CT scanning,low-dose CT scanning for pulmonary infections demonstrates comparable image quality while significantly reducing radiation exposure, offering higher safety and clinical application value. It is worthy of clinical reference.
