Age-related macular degeneration(AMD)is one of the leading causes of visual impairment and blindness in middle-aged and elderly people. The main manifestation of AMD is the gradual loss of the central vision, which seriously affects the daily life and quality of life of patients.Despite recent advances in medical technology, there are still many mysteries about the pathogenesis and effective treatment of AMD.Although the pathogenesis of AMD has not been fully understood,it has been confirmed to be related to multiple factors such as genetic factors, environmental factors, and lifestyle. In recent years, more and more studies have shown that dietary factors, especially nutrients, play an important role in the occurrence and development of AMD.This review will comprehensively analyze the existing research results and explore the specific effects of nutrients in the pathogenesis of AMD,thus providing a scientific foundation for the prevention and treatment of this disease.
