The safety and stability of supply chains are closely related to China s economic development and have increasingly become an important issue of high concern to the Party and the government.Improving supply chain efficiency is a crucial measure to ensure supply chain resilience, safety, and stability. This paper uses data from 2009—2021 on ESG and supply chain efficiency of listed A-share companies in China as a sample to empirically analyze the impact and mechanism of corporate ESG on supply chain efficiency. The study finds that corporate ESG has a more significant effect on improving supply chain efficiency in state-owned enterprises,large-scale enterprises, enterprises with longer management decision-making horizons, and capital-intensive enterprises, and has a more significant promotion effect in the manufacturing industry and industries with higher competitiveness. The mitigation of financing constraints, reduction of transaction costs, technological innovation, and stabilization of supply chain relationships brought about by corporate ESG performance are not only important mechanisms for improving supply chain efficiency but also further enhance the company s own value. This paper reveals the positive role of corporate ESG in supply chain efficiency and provides theoretical references and empirical insights for further promoting the resilience and security of industrial and supply chains.
