摘要
《三国演义》在明代流行所引发的小说家们对正统史书和通俗演义关系的思考,不仅完成了明代通俗小说观念的理论建构,也推动了明代通俗小说的迅猛发展。通俗小说观念在明代前中期与明代后期有显著差别,具体表现为由强调资治和教化转向重视通俗和娱情,即从要求通俗演义“羽翼信史”到肯定通俗演义与正史“并传不朽”,从要求通俗演义“裨益风教”到鼓吹通俗演义为“疗俗圣药”,从强调通俗演义征实到鼓动通俗演义虚构,最后归结为要在通俗演义中塑造普通民众喜闻乐见的典型人物形象。明代通俗小说观念的成熟改变了中国小说观念的基本格局。
The popularity of Romance of the Three Kingdoms during the Ming Dynasty triggered novelists’contemplation on the relationship between orthodox historical books and ancient popular novels,which not only completed the theoretical construction of the concept of popular novel in the Ming Dynasty,but also promoted the rapid development of popular novel during that era.The concept of orthodox popular novels showed significant differences between the early and mid-Ming Dynasty and the late Ming Dynasty.The specific manifestation is the shift from emphasizing governance and education to valuing popularization and“entertainment”,that is to say,from demanding that popular novel to be“Aiding the True History”to affirming that popular novel and official history should be“Eternal Fame in Parallel”;from requiring that popular novel to be“Enrich Public Morality”to promoting popular novel as a“The Holy Remedy for Social Ills”;from emphasizing the use of reality in popular novel to encouraging the use of fictionalization;finally,it boils down to creating typical character images that are popular and easily relatable to the ordinary people in popular novels.The maturity of the concept of popular novels in the Ming Dynasty changed the basic pattern of Chinese novel concepts.
