On January 18,1950,China and Vietnam established diplomatic relations.In November 1991,China and Vietnam announced that they would shut the door on the past and look to the future to achieve normalization of relations between the two Parties and states.In October 1998,the two sides signed a treaty on mutual legal assistance in civil and criminal matters,a border trade agreement,and a consular agreement.
