This paper describes various applications for sinter materials in transmissions. It will demonstrate clearly that sinter steels offer inferior performance to solid steels. On the other hand, sinter steel is often adequate for the purpose and provides economic benefits. An interesting aspect which points the way to the future is the application of sinter technology to graduated materials, which it is virtually impossible to manufacture using any other technology.
