摘要
《史记·秦本纪》说 :“大廉玄孙曰孟戏、中衍 ,鸟身人言。帝太戊闻而卜之使御”。历来注家、译家往往把“鸟身人言”解释为 :“中衍身体是鸟 ,能说人话。”其实 ,“鸟身”应属上读 ,鸟身之“鸟” ,为名词用如动词 ,中衍鸟身 ,即中衍刺飞鸟于其身 ,亦即所谓“文身” ,系图腾之标记。“人言”应属下读 ,即有人将中衍的情况言之于帝太戊。
In the Historical Records·History of Qin (Historical Records ,by Sima Qian,C.145or c.135-?BC of the Western Han Dynasty)there is a narration:Zhong Xian had a bird design tattooed on his body and somebody told Di Tai Wu about his tattoo.For centuries,the annotators and translators have misunderstood this narration and misinterpreted it as'Zhong Xian has a bird's body but can speak human language.
