摘要
莎士比亚《李尔王》中的爱德蒙与曹禺《雷雨》中的周萍,作为两个不同文化、不同国家、不同时代背景影响下的文学人物形象,他们之间遥契与类同性的悲剧命运遂构成了二者间的可比性。爱德蒙与周萍都具有外在社会环境制约下的自私与自卑的性格缺陷,都成长于缺失温情的家庭环境,而且具有相似的“父权”压制下的悲剧人生;但同时亦存在从内在个性特征到外在行为方式上的基本差异性。而他们这种似同而实异的悲剧命运,则主要是由其不同的阶级出身和成长的社会语境,以及中西方截然不同的异质文化传统所造成的。
Edmund in Shakespeare’s King Lear and Zhou Ping in Cao Yu’s Thunderstorm, as two literary characters under the influence of different cultures, different countries and different times, their remote affinity and similar tragic fate constitute the comparability between them. Both Edmund and Zhou Ping have the character defects of selfishness and inferiority under the constraints of the external social environment. They both grew up in a family that lacked warmth and shared a tragic life under the suppression of paternal power. At the same time, there are basic differences from internal personality characteristics to external behaviors. The differences between them are mainly caused by their different class backgrounds and social contexts of growth as well as the completely different cultural traditions between China and the West.
