摘要
本文追忆了STS重要学者特里弗·平齐教授,并以平齐教授为基点,展现了20世纪70、80年代英国独特的开放性学术文化,正是当时不设学科边界的跨学科对话促成了以科学和技术为研究对象的各领域学者——科学社会学家、科学史家和科学哲学家的交流与合作,成就了科学与技术元勘(Science and Technology Studies,STS)的诞生和发展。而平齐教授正是这其中的核心人物,他的开放性、谦逊和广博的兴趣使他的职业生涯充满了与全球各地的学者所合作的五花八门的有趣研究,他的成就巨大,是科学和技术的社会研究领域中最伟大的人物之一。
This article recalls Professor Trevor Pinch,an important STS figure,and takes Professor Pinch as the starting point to represent the unique openness of British academic culture in the 1970s and 1980s.It was the interdisciplinary dialogue beyond disciplinary boundaries at that time bringing about the communication and cooperation between scholars in various fields that take science and technology as research objects---sociologists of science,historians of science,and philosophers of science,and contributing to the birth and development of Science and Technology Studies (STS).Professor Pinch was at the core of this.His openness,modesty and broad interests had filled his career with a variety of fascinating collaborations with scholars all over the world.His achievements were huge.He was one of the greatest figures in social studies of science and technology.
