摘要
斯宾诺莎的《伦理学》是一部以几何学形式写成的哲学著作,但是在看似严谨的论证背后,却存在一个关键性的但并未得到澄清的问题,即实体和样态间的关系问题。《伦理学》第一部分命题十五所提到的“一切事物都存在于神之内”到底应该做何理解?传统哲学家选择以样态寓于实体之中的思路来解释,但美国学者柯莱却尖锐地批评了上述观点,认为应当以样态对实体的“因果依赖性”来解释。这一思路的确可以解决许多传统解释中的问题,但与《伦理学》中的很多内容不相符合。因此,通过对两种解释路径的分析不难看出,二者均无法完全澄清实体和样态的关系难题。
Spinoza′s"Ethics"is a philosophical work written in geometric form;however,behind the seemingly rigorous argument there exits an essential and yet unclarified problem,that is,the relationship between substance and mode.What is meant by saying"all things exist in God"mentioned in Proposition 15 of the first part of"Ethics"?Traditional philosophers choose to explain the way of thinking that the mode exists in the substance,but the American scholar Curley sharply criticizes the above point of view and believes that it should be explained by the"causal dependence"of the mode on substance.This way of thinking can indeed solve many problems in traditional interpretation,but this view is inconsistent with most contents in"Ethics."This paper starts from the two viewpoints of"being in"and"causality,"focusing on exploring the difficulties and contradictions of this causal interpretation.
