摘要
赛珍珠以描绘中国农村图景的《大地》等作品先后问鼎诺贝尔文学奖和普利策奖,成为美国历史上首位同时获此两项殊荣的女作家。双重文化身份形成了中西文化的双重视域,使她的写作既不同于同时期的中国左翼作家的革命与阶级意识,同时又相异于美国本土作家对中国的他者化描写,是较为真实的中国故事,从而《大地》体现出典型的文化间性特质,即中西文化互为主体、双向互动,既突显出中西文化的共性,写出了普遍人性,又在尊重他者的前提下包容文化差异,反思中国传统的命运。《大地》的文化间性书写为同时期中国农民题材小说提供了不同的书写角度与可能性,其在国际上的传播对修正中国形象,争取西方对中国战时的人道主义援助都起了积极的作用。
Pearl S.Buck is the first female writer in American history who won the Nobel Prize in Literature and the Pulitzer Prize for depicting the picture of China’s rural areas in her masterpieces like The Good Earth;.The dual cultural identity gives Pearl S.Buck a dual perspective,which is different from the revolution and class consciousness of Chinese literature writers at that time,and also from the demonization of China by the native American writers.So The Good Earth;embodies the typical intercultural characteristics telling more authentical Chinese stories,that is,Chinese and Western cultures are the main body of each other and interact in a two-way way.It not only highlights the commonality of Chinese and Western cultures and universal human nature,but also reflects on the fate of Chinese tradition under the premise of respecting others and accommodating cultural differences.The intercultural feature of The Good Earth;provides a new perspective and possibilities for the novels about Chinese peasants in the same period.Its international influence has played a positive role in revising China’s image and in striving for the western humanitarian aid to China in wartime.
