Objective To explore the application efficacy of multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment(MDT)mode in patients with esophageal foreign body. Methods A total of 121 patients with esophageal foreign body admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University from January 2018 to July 2020 were enrolled and divided into experimental group(n=62,MDT mode)and control group(n=59,traditional diagnosis and treatment mode)according to the diagnosis and treatment mode. The waiting time for treatment, incidence of post-treatment complications, average length of hospital stay, average cost of treatment and mortality were compared between the two groups. Results Compared with the control group, the MDT group had shorter waiting time for treatment, shorter average length of hospital stay, and lower average cost of treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the incidence of complications and mortality in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group, but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion Compared with the traditional diagnosis and treatment mode,MDT mode can provide the best treatment plan for patients with esophageal foreign body, can remove the foreign body earlier, shorten the length of hospital stay, and reduce the cost of treatment.
