摘要
文章通过聚焦韩南《十二楼》《无声戏》和《明朝爱情故事》3部明清短篇小说译本,以搜集的171条俗语译例为基础,以译者行为批评理论为观照,从"求真—务实"连续统评价模式出发,解析韩南的翻译动因、读者意识和兼容思维等"翻译外"行为,对其俗语求真与务实翻译的影响。研究结果显示,韩南翻译的内外行为皆对译本生成起到重要作用,在英译俗语时表现出鲜明的文化认同立场。本文对解读译者"翻译外"行为与"翻译内"行为的深度联系、审视汉学家译者在中国文化"走出去"发挥的作用具有重要意义。
This study, focused on Hanan’ s translation of A Tower for the Summer Heat(Shi Er Lou), Silent Operas and Falling in Love-Stories from Ming China, collects 171 pairs of idioms with their translation. Based on the bilingual idiom corpus, it applies the principles of the theory of translator’ s behavior criticism, especially its "Truth-seeking-Utility-attaining" Evaluative Model of Continuum, to analyze the influence of Hanan’ s translation motivation, reader consciousness and compatible thinking on his translation choices between Truth-seeking and Utility-attaining. Statistical results show that both Hanan’ s intra-translation behavior and extra-translation behavior play an important role in translation production, to show that Hanan has high cultural identity to Chinese culture. Therefore, this study definitely offers extensive thinking on how to interpret the deep connection between translator’ s intra-translation behavior and extra-translation behavior and how to let sinologist translators play a full part in exporting Chinese culture.
