In the Qing Dynasty, the floating populations lacked proper and legal ways to satisfy sexual desire, and they were in the situation of sexual hunger and depression for a long time because of the separation of man and wife and a lifetime unmarried status. The prolonged"sex window period"or asexual life had caused some of them to take risks and embark on the evil road of sexual crimes, such as fornicating, raping and sodomy. This not only damaged the overall image of the floating populations but also seriously impacted the ethical and legal basis of the Qing Empire.
