K-Cl cotransporters(KCC) 2 regulates the transmembrane transport of K^+ and Cl^- ions and plays a role in the regulation of cell volume and ion homeostasis. Loss of KCC2 activity has been linked to a variety of diseases, including epilepsy and spasms after spinal cord injury, and it is an ideal drug target for the treatment of related nervous diseases. This paper discusses the association between KCC2 and spasm and epilepsy related to spinal cord injury, the mechanism of action of KCC2 in related nervous system diseases and the progress in related treatment.
