Both acute and chronic kidney disease can cause hypoxia, thatis, hypoxia in cells and tissues.Hypoxia-inducible factor(HIF)is the"master"transcription factor for gene expression under hypoxia.Studies have shown that HIF plays an important role in kidney injury and repair by regulating the target genes of HIF.However, there is still controversy about the pathological role of HIF in kidney injury and repair.Based on this, this article mainly focuses on the distribution and detection of HIF in the kidney, the target genes of HIF and their effects on renal endocrine function, and HIF in acute kidney injury(AKI)is a review of the signaling mechanism and its role in kidney repair, aiming to help elucidate the pathological role of HIF in kidney injury and repair.
