[Objective]To observe the expression of programmed death 1(PD-1)and programmed death ligand-1(PD-L1)in the tissues of colon cancer patients, and analyze the correlation between their expression levels and the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis.[Methods]The protein expression levels of PD-1 and PD-L1 in colon cancer tissue and tissue adjacent to carcinoma of 112 patients with colon cancer were detected by immunohistochemical method and the protein expression levels of PD-1 and PD-L1 were compared. The relationship of PD-1 and PD-L1 protein expression and the clinical pathological features was analyzed. The relationship of protein expression levels in the colon cancer tissue between PD-1 and PD-L1 was analyzed. The relationship between protein expression of PD-1 and PD-L1 and the prognosis of patients with colon cancer was analyzed,as well as the multiple factors of colon cancer survival was analyzed.[Results]The protein expression of PD-1 and PD-L1 in colon cancer tissues were significantly higher than that in para-carcinoma tissues(P<0.05).The expression levels of PD-1 and PD-L1 in colon cancer tissues were significantly correlated with the clinicopathological features such as TNM stage, degree of differentiation, depth of infiltration, vascular invasion and lymph node metastasis(P<0.05).The 3-year cumulative survival rate(67.2%)and median survival time(20.2 months)in the high-expression PD-1 group were significantly lower than those in the low-expression PD-1 group(88.9%)and the median survival time(31.6 months)(P<0.05),and the 3-year cumulative survival rate(71.0%)and median survival time(21.5 months)in the high-expression PD-L1 group were significantly lower than those in the low-expression PD-L1 group(92.0%)and the median survival time(32.2 months)(P<0.05).Late TNM stage, low differentiation, deep infiltration, vascular infiltration, lymph node metastasis, positive PD-1 protein expression and positive PD-L1 protein expression were all independent risk factors affecting the prognosis and survival of patients with colon cancer(P<0.05).[Conclusion]The expression levels of PD-1 and PD-L1 proteins in colon cancer tissues are significantly correlated with the clinicopathological features such as TNM stage, differentiation degree, invasion depth, vascular invasion and lymph node metastasis, which can be used as an important indicator to predict the prognosis of patients with colon cancer.
