摘要
案例研究的目标是建构理论、促进知识发展。通过对《公共管理学报》创刊十五年来相关文献的分析,发现案例研究已成为与定量分析并驾齐驱的主要方法。但在案例研究学术繁荣的背后,也存在五种叙事偏差:重故事轻理论、自我循环论证、"代表性陷阱"、忽视建构效度与内在效度、过于夸大研究贡献。就案例研究的推进理路来讲,公共管理案例研究促进知识发展的路径有三个:类型学研究、反思性民族志的"深描"、扩展个案法。本文认为,未来公共管理的案例研究应走向"结构-过程"分析范式:善于将抽象理论与经验现象有机结合,提升案例研究品质;选取典型案例,走出"代表性陷阱";采用组态比较方法,揭示复杂世界的因果机制;注重案例研究的情感转向,深入理解真实世界。
The goal of"Case Study"is to construct theory and promote knowledge development.Based on the analysis of relevant literatures in the fifteen years since the publication of Journal of Public Management,this paper finds that"Case Study"has become the main method that goes hand in hand with quantitative analysis.But behind the academic prosperity of"Case Study",there are also five types of narrative deviations:Emphasis on story over theory,self-circulation argument,"representative trap",neglect of construct validity and intrinsic validity,and overstating research contributions.As far as the"Case Study"goes,There are three ways for public management"Case Study"to promote knowledge development:Typological research,"deep description"of reflective ethnography,and extended case methods.This article believes that future"Case Study"of public management should move towards the"structure-process"analysis paradigm:Being good at organically combining abstract theory and empirical phenomena to improve the quality of Case Study;Selecting typical cases to get out of the"representative trap";Reveal the causal mechanism of the complex world;Focus on the emotional turn of Case Study,and gain a deep understanding of the real world.
