Objective To investigate the value of modified restraint straps in management of operative position in patients undergoing gynecological laparoscopic operation. Methods Totally 132 patients undergoing gynecological laparoscopic operation were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group, with 66 cases in each group. The common shoulder straps were used for patient restraint in the control group, and the modified restraint straps were used in the observation group. The changes in systolic pressure, diastolic pressure and heart rate were measured before and after placing the patient in the operative position. The occurrence of skin erythema and pain induced by position constraint were observed. Results There were small increases in systolic pressure, diastolic pressure and heart rate in the observation group than those in the control group(P<0.05). The incidence of skin erythema in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). Patients in the observation group had a lower level of pain induced by position constraint compared with those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion The modified restraint strap has less impact on the blood pressure and heart rate of patients undergoing gynecological laparoscopic operation. It may also has a preventive effect on skin erythema and pain induced by position constraint.
