摘要
英籍亚东关税务司利用其特殊身份,大肆从事情报搜集,特别是在窥探藏地、探察俄国间谍、谋划英国第二次武力侵藏、刺探清政府治边情势等方面为英国提供了大量情报。他们是英国侵藏过程中的重要间谍人员。探讨英籍亚东关税务司的情报搜集活动,撮其要者述之,能更全面地认识在藏的最早合法英籍官员行为之真实意图。
The British Customs Commissioners in Yatung used their special identity to engage in intelligence activities,especially in prying into Tibet,exploring Russian spies,plotting the British invasion of Tibet by force,and probing into the situation of the Qing government in governing the frontier,etc.They were important spies in the British invasion of Tibet.This paper explores the intelligence activities of the British Customs Commissioners in Yatung,talks about the key points,so can we have a more comprehensive understanding of the earliest legally registered British commissioners in Tibet.
