Every year in March, China enters its important political season when deputies to the National Peoples Congress (NPC) and members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) convene annual sessions (known as Lianghui) in Beijing to deliberate and discuss state affairs for better governance. This yeai;more than 2,900 NPC deputies and more than 2,100 CPPCC National Committee members came to Beijing for the Second Session of the 13th NPC and the Second Session of the CPPCC National Committee on behalf of the people they represent in their respective regions and fields.
