摘要
加拿大作家艾丽丝·门罗以其作品深邃的思想性及独特的叙事性被誉为"当代短篇小说大师"。短篇小说《库特斯岛》再现了门罗的经典主题——女性在现实中的自我探寻。小说中,门罗不再仅视空间为故事的发生地,而是将特定空间的书写作为构建人物的叙事手段,通过对主人公蛰居的地下室、漫步的街道以及梦里的库特斯岛三个典型空间的书写,为读者呈现了主人公自我意识的萌发、遗失及重建的心路历程。
As a“modern short story master”,Alice Munro is well-known not only for the deep meanings conveyed in her works but also for her typical narrative.In the short story Cortes Island,Munro reveals her consistent theme:females self-pursuit in reality.Munro regards the physical space not just as the location,but as the narrative method to construct the heroine.Through the narrative of the basement where the heroine stayed,the street where she roamed and Cortes Island in her dream,it portrays the process of the sprouting,loss and reconstruction of the heroine s self-awareness.
