摘要
南宋以来,理学向各个阶层滋长蔓延并强有力地塑造着人们的观念世界,耕读传家也被赋予了立德兴家的崭新意义。与理学缔造士绅阶层同步而行的,是南宋文学书写中的岩桂意象承载着耕读传家观念的种种内涵和意趣也在不断丰富。南宋文学中的岩桂意象不仅从屈原、淮南小山那里继承了高洁不凡的内涵,还生发出了抱道自守的意义。不惟如此,南宋人主张修其天爵而人爵从之,岩桂意象调和了金榜题名与敬德修业的两种人生,使其统一起来。桂岩象喻意义的生成与发展是以士绅阶层文化为基础的。士绅阶层宗尚理学,理学通过士绅将家庭伦理和家族伦理归结于耕读传家的生活理念,岩桂象喻则是这种理念的具象化呈现。岩桂作为江南各地随处生长的树种,与其他具有比德价值的卉木一起,共同构筑了士绅文化的艺术境界。
Neo-Confucianism has spread to every part of the society and shaped Chinese people's worldviewsince the Southern Dynasty. The idea of "farming and reading"has thus become a newspiritual power to establish value system and maintain the well-being of the whole family. Meanwhile,Yangui image in the literature of that time has adopted and enriched the connotation as well as the aesthetic value of the idea. Yangui image,not only inherited the noble and chaste spirit from Qu Yuan and the followers patronized by the King of Huainan,but also shed newimplications about sticking to one's own moral principles. Besides,Yangui image emphasized the importance of both reaching official rank and moral cultivation,and made a balance between the two. Yangui image was created and developed based on the gentry culture. The gentries advocated Neo-Confucianism which transformed the family ethics and clan ethics into the idea of"farming and reading",while Yangui image is exactly the realization of this idea. Yangui,a tree widespread in the south of the Yangtze River,together with other plants symbolizing noble virtues,formed the artistry framework of the gentry culture.
