摘要
昭馀祁是山西省中部太原盆地的一处古湖泊,"昭"作"明显"讲,"馀"与"祁"均作"多"讲,"昭馀祁"三字是水域辽阔之意。通过分析昭馀祁的名称演变,可梳理出其水域分割、萎缩和消亡的历史过程。由于一个名为昭馀祁的泽薮,该泽薮之畔的土地被命名为祁,春秋时期,晋国大夫姬姓奚封地于此,因地为氏,称为祁奚。昭公二十八年祁氏之田一分为七,其中一县即为祁县。祁县之名应源自水域名昭馀祁;而昭馀祁在分割、萎缩后仍能保留这一称呼来指代祁县附近的水域,主要因为此地称为祁县。
Zhaoyuqi used to be a lake in the Taiyuan Basin in the central Shanxi province. In ancient Chinese,＂Zhao＂ means conspicuous,and Yu and Qi means enormous,so Zhaoyuqi implies broad water,and the land surrounding it was named Qi. In Spring and Autumn Period,Xi,the Duke of the Jin State got his fief here,hence Qi became Qixi ＇s family name. In 514 BC,the fief was divided into seven parts,one of them is Qi County.Therefore,the name of Qi County came from Zhaoyuqi while reduced Zhaoyuqi retained its name to indicate the waters near the Qi County for this land was named Qi County. Analysis of the name change helps us trace the division,reduction and disappearance of Zhaoyuqi.
