By analyzing the deficiencies of knowledge representation of present 3D parametric CAD systems, a series of new techniques for knowledge representation are proposed in this paper to express knowledge in the domains of design. Further, a new technique based on constraint network is put forward to solve constraint reasoning. The new CAD system integrating the above techniques can satisfy requirement for parametric product modeling based on engineering knowledge.
