Objective To know blood lead levels of residents living around a waste battery recycling and processing enterprise(WBRPE). Methods In 2016,one administrative village around a WBRPE was selected as exposure area, another 7 km far from WBRPE as control area.A total of 379 blood samples were collected from children aged 2-14 and adults aged 〉15 for determination of lead. Results Higher blood lead levels were found in children(G:91.30 μg/L, range:28.62-485.01 μg/L) and adults(G:76.68 μg/L, range:6.00-1 066.57 μg/L) in polluted area, lower levels in control area(Gchildren:44.18 μg/L;rangechildren:19.32-89.32 μg/L;Gadults:51.16 μg/L;rangeadults:6.00-175.71 μg/L) respectively, regional differences was significant(P〈0.05).The abnormal rates of blood lead were 33.7% and 2.4% for children and adults in polluted area respectively, while there was no abnormal case in control area.Higher blood lead levels were found in male among children and adults in polluted area( P〈0.05),and only in adults in control area(P〈0.05). Conclusion The WBRPE-induced lead pollution causes higher blood lead level for residents living around, especially for children.
