用于粒子加速器高频系统的感应输出管和多注感应输出管

IOTs and MB-IOTs for RF System of Particle Accelerators

摘要 感应输出管(IOT)是将静电控制管与速调管相互结合而成的一种密度调制微波管,它具有效率高、体积小、低收集极耗散功率等优点,已广泛应用于电视广播发射机。从21世纪初起,IOT开始在低频粒子加速器的高频系统上获得了应用。用于电视广播的P波段IOT均适合于工作频率500 MHz的粒子加速器的高频系统,其脉冲功率可达130kW,连续波功率可达80kW。针对第3代和第4代同步光源、欧洲自由电子激光器等科学装置的高频系统的需求,美国CPI公司开始研制了工作频率1.3GHz,输出功率30~120kW的L-波段IOT。近年来,在欧洲散裂中子源的推动下,美国L3公司和CPI公司、法国Thales公司等单位开始研制P波段MW级多注IOT,并在2017年取得了重大进展。本文介绍IOT的基本工作原理和主要特点,IOT在粒子加速器上的应用情况,特别介绍了多注感应输出管的最新研制进展。 Inductive output tube(IOT)is a type of density modulation microwave tube,which combines the gridded tube and the klystron together.The main advantages of IOTs include high efficiency,small volume and low collector power dissipation.IOTs have been applied widely to TV broadcast transmitters.IOTs started to be applied in the RF system of low frequency particle accelerators since the beginning of 21 stcentury.The IOTs used in TV broadcast are suitable to the RF system of particle accelerators operating at frequency of 500 MHz.These IOTs have peak power of 130 kW,and CW power of 80 kW.In order to satisfy the requirement of 3 rd and 4 th generation synchronism optical sources,and also of European FEL,CPI started to develop L-band IOTs with output power of 30-120 kW.Recently,under the drive of European spallation neutron source,L3,CPI and Thales companies are conducting the development of multi-beam inductive output tubes(MB-IOTs)with output power of Megawatts.The important progress of the MB-IOTs has been obtained in 2017.The basic principle and main properties of IOTs are introduced in this paper,and the application of IOTs in particle acceleratorsis discussed.The recent progress of MBIOT is also given.
