Objective: To understand the dermatoglyphic features and gender difference of palm I area among their finger in Macaca mulatta. Methods: Totally 55 specimens (20 males and 35 females) were obtained for research and compared with macaques in Takasakiyama and Yakushima, Japan. The data analysis was conducted using SPSS20.0. Results: The most common type of Macaca mulatta' palms among their finger I area was the whorl pattern (W) which accounted for 78.90//00, followed by the loop pattern (L), and there were almost no open pattern (O). The pattern of Macaca mulatta' palms among their finger I area in females and males differed significantly, and significant difference was found between the Yakushima macaques and Takasaki macaques. The quantity of the male whorl and double loop pattern was larger than that of the females in all the 3 groups, while females had more open and loop patterns. Conclusion: The pattern of macaques' palms among their finger I area among the 3 groups is more complicated in males than females. Long-term geographical isolation and genetic drift cause the extremely significant difference in their dermatoglyphic features of the I area among the 3 groups. It seems certainly that these 3 kinds of macaques from different places have an earlier differentiation and lack communication after differentiation.
