摘要
英国当代著名女作家萨拉·沃特斯每一部小说中对作为礼物的服饰都有精彩描写。围绕沃特斯小说中作为礼物的服饰,分析这些服饰描写在人物从属、压抑的境遇,试图传递情感、编织幻象、索取回报等的人物心理及对过去的象征意义三方面体现出的作用,探讨服饰在小说中重要的言说功能。
Sarah Waters is a famous British contemporary female writer,and there are excellent descriptions of characters＇ costumes in her novels. Centered on the costumes as gifts,the thesis will analyze the characters＇ subordinate and constrained living situations,psychology including transferring emotions,weaving illusion and asking for return,as well as the symbolic meaning reflected in the description of the costumes as gifts,in order to explore the discourse function in the costumes.
