This paper analyzes the phenomenon of public displays of affections on the Internet from the perspective of Chinese traditional culture from people of the marriage age to evaluate the effects of social traditions on Internet behavior. Given the data from Chinese Internet Social Mentality Survey( 2015),it is found that the possibility to display affections publicly on the Internet is significantly higher for the graduate students than the undergraduates, and also it is higher for students with more followers on Weibo. This finding supports our hypothesis that the act of public displays of affections on the Internet is a strategy taken by the university students to avoid the pressures from traditional Chinese culture, which requires people to get married before a certain age. There is no sex difference found in this study, probably due to the interactive trait of this behavior. Furthermore, the single and available university students take the strategy of expressing a negative attitude to this phenomenon to relieve such pressures piled on them.
