With her trauma writing, the Nobel laureate S.A. Alexievich has chronicled the emotional history of Soviet and post-Soviet Russia. Focusing on Voices from Chernobyl: The Oral History of a Nuclear Disaster, this paper analyzes its generic features,its theme of trauma, its narrative techniques and its aesthetic elegance, with a view to reflecting on Alexievich's unique response to this hazardous world.
