In view of the global prevalence of obesity and obesity-related diseases, it is important to clearly understand how adipose tissues develop. A battery of data implicated that the role of redox-sensitive transcriptional factors play an important role in adipocyte differentiation. Understanding of the molecular mechanism of adipocyte differentiation regulated by redox-sensitive transcriptional factors may provide theoretical and experimental foundation for the intervention of adipogenic differentiation and obesity. In this review, the current progress detailing the role of redox-sensitive transcriptional factors in adipocyte differentiation was reviewed such as Nrf2, PGC-1α, p53, NF- κB and Fox O etc. This review provides novel insights into the regulation of adipocyte differentiation by redox-sensitive transcriptional factors and the intervention of obesity and its related disorders.
